Big Noise Theatre is excited to announce its 2018-19 season. The 17th season at Prairie Lakes Theater in Des Plaines, IL begins with KISS ME, KATE in September, followed by STEEL MAGNOLIAS in January, and for the first time in BNT history YOU, the audience, get to pick the final show. The Broadway classic, KISS ME KATE, opens September 21. Passions run high as leading lady Lilli and her ex-husband, actor/director Fred, battle onstage and off in a production of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. With romance, comedy, sophistication, and behind-the-scenes high jinks, KISS ME, KATE combines the irreverent humor of two brilliant writers: Cole Porter and William Shakespeare.
Musical numbers include “So In Love,” “Too Darn Hot,” “Always True to You (In My Fashion),” and other beloved Cole Porter standards.
Robert Harling's touching play, STEEL MAGNOLIAS, opens January 11. Strong as steel, fragile as magnolias. The six Southern women of Chinquapin, Louisiana, show more steel than delicacy as they face life’s ups and downs together. A home beauty parlor is their gathering place, where they gossip, needle, and jab each other with good-humored zingers. But when push comes to shove, these friends are there for one another, especially in the darkest of times.
This hilarious and heartwarming play inspired the 1989 film which starred Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis and Dolly Parton.
